Delete your Glimmer account
Version 1.0 · Last updated 11 September 2026 · Glimmer, by Bitlitic LLC
Two ways to do it: inside the app, which is immediate, or by email if you cannot reach the app.
In the app — the fast way
Settings → Account → Delete account.
You will be asked to confirm, and then it is done: your account and everything synced to our servers are erased, permanently and immediately. There is no waiting period and no recovery, so export first if you want a copy (Settings → Export).
By email — if you cannot get into the app
If you have lost the phone, or cannot sign in, ask us instead.
- Email customer-service@bitlitic.com from the email address the account uses.
- Use the subject line “Delete my Glimmer account”.
We verify that the request came from that address — that is the whole verification, and it is why the message has to come from the account's own email rather than any other. Then we delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner, and reply to confirm when it is done.
If you write from a different address we will not be able to act on it, because we would be taking a stranger's word for whose journal to erase.
What gets deleted
- Your account and the email address on it.
- Every journal entry synced to our servers.
- Your profile — the name, pronouns and preferences you gave Glimmer when you started.
- The record of your subscription status.
All of it, permanently. We do not keep a shadow copy, and there is nothing to restore afterwards.
What does not get deleted
The journal on your phone. This is deliberate. Glimmer never needed an account to hold your writing, so deleting the account leaves your own copy exactly where it is. If you want that gone too, delete the app from the phone — or export it first from Settings → Export.
Your App Store or Google Play subscription. Deleting your Glimmer account does not cancel Glimmer Plus, because we are not the ones billing you. You have to cancel it in the store, or it will keep renewing.
Records other services keep. Usage analytics events, which never contain anything you wrote, stay with Google Analytics for Firebase until the retention period set on our analytics property runs out. RevenueCat, Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases under their own policies.
Cancelling the subscription
On iPhone or iPad: Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Glimmer → Cancel Subscription.
On Android: Play Store → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Glimmer → Cancel subscription.
Do this before or after deleting the account — the order does not matter, but doing only one of the two is the mistake worth avoiding.
If you do nothing
Synced entries and your profile are kept for as long as the account exists. An account with no sign-in for 24 months may be deleted after we email the account address first. The privacy policy sets out the whole retention rule.
